The University of Alabama’s Department of History and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst’s (UK) Centre for Army Leadership  are hosting a two-day conference that will consider varying aspects of military leadership from the War of 1812 to the present. Panelists will explore: leadership and command in the armed forces; what shapes the differing national leadership approaches taken by the US and British military; lesson learned from war and peace; and what endures through history in preparation for war and when warfighting.

Dr. Beth Bailey, Foundation Distinguished Professor and Director of the Center for Military, War, and Social Studies at the University of Kansas; and Maj. General Zac Stenning, OBE, Director of British Army Leadership and Commandant of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, will be featured keynote speakers.

The general registration fee ($20 before October 16, $25 thereafter) will include admittance to all panels and keynotes, free parking, Monday lunch, and a reception. This event will be free for UA staff, faculty, and students, as well as British and American active-duty military personnel and veterans.*
