University of Alabama students who sign up to volunteer at the Moundville Native American Festival are invited to Moundville Archaeological Park on October 3, 2025 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. for a free and exclusive evening of tours, food, and performances! This is a unique way for students to experience Moundville, give back through volunteering, and connect with Native artists and performers.

Schedule

• 4:30 PM – Private museum tour at the Jones Archaeological Museum (closes at 5:00). RSVP required! Students must complete the volunteer form and email education-moundstatepark@ua.edu.
• 5:00 PM – Guided outdoor tour of the mounds, including a behind-the-scenes look at festival set-up.
• 5:30 PM – Pizza, drinks, and giveaways at the Conference Center.
• 6:00 PM – Private hoop dance performance by Lyndon Alec (Alabama-Coushatta Nation).
• 6:30 PM – Event concludes and park closes.

How do I sign up to volunteer?

If you would like to sign up to be a volunteer at the Moundville Native American Festival, fill out our Volunteer and MNAF Liability Release Forms or fill it out upon your arrive at Volunteer Headquarters at Moundville Archaeological Park.

If you choose to work two shifts in one day (morning and afternoon), you’ll receive a free Festival t-shirt and a lunch!
