About this Event
Add to calendarFor the first time, Bama Study Abroad is taking students in the summer of 2024 to hike the famous 11th century Spanish pilgrimage, the Camino de Santiago! Ten students and two faculty will start their journey in Paris in early June and spend two days there before taking a train to the south of France to begin hiking. The trail will take the group over the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain to the Medieval city of Pamplona where the famous Running of the Bulls happens every year. The team will then head west and spend the rest of the month hiking towards the sea. There will be rest days in the great cities of Logrono, Burgos, and Leon as you hike through Basque country and into the beautiful hills of Galicia. Thousands of people of varying physical abilities hike the Camino every year, and all students are welcome to apply.
For more information, go to http://camino.ua.edu. Come visit the UA in Spain – Hiking the Camino de Santiago table at the Study Abroad fair on September 13 from 11-2 in the quad in front of BB Comer. And come to the information session for the Camino on October 4 at 5:30 PM in ten Hoor 253.
Buen Camino!
