One antidote to the often-frustrating process of submitting writing and waiting for acceptance--and one way to stay connected to writing communities after graduation--is to take matters into your own hands by starting a press, journal, or reading series. This one-hour workshop with writer and small press publisher MC Hyland will focus on chapbook publishing as a model for DIY literary community-building. Participants will handle and discuss chapbooks from the last two decades and work through a roadmap of issues to consider for starting your own publishing venture, from economics to distribution.
