A UA interdisciplinary research team has been studying chronic kidney disease (CKD) and developing interventions to help people for the last 2 ½ years. Data have been collected from Alabamians at risk for chronic kidney disease, those with CKD, primary care providers, people on dialysis, and nephrology providers. Based on the data collected, the research team developed several interventions including brief videos for primary care offices and voice-over audio Public Service announcements to promote prevention and management of CKD. An app has also been created for primary care providers to promote point of care staging of CKD.
