Ginni Rometty, former Chairman and CEO of IBM, will be interviewed by Marillyn Hewson, former Chairman, President, and CEO of Lockheed Martin.
Hewson will be interviewing Rometty about her view on leadership lessons, how to run an organization and how each of us can lead meaningful, positive change in our lives, work and world.
Ginni Rometty
Ginni Rometty was the ninth Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of IBM. Under her leadership, the 100-year-old company reinvented 50 percent of its portfolio, built a $25 billion hybrid cloud business, and established leadership in AI and quantum computing. Rometty also drove record results in diversity and inclusion and supported the explosive growth of an innovative high school program to prepare the workforce of the future in over twenty-eight countries.
Through her work with the Business Roundtable, Rometty helped redefine the purpose of the corporation. She has been named Fortune’s #1 Most Powerful Woman three years in a row, is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and has been honored with France’s Officier de la Légion d’Honneur. Today, Rometty serves on multiple boards and co-chairs OneTen, a coalition committed to upskill, hire, and promote one million Black Americans by 2030 into family-sustaining jobs and careers. She is married to Mark Rometty.
Marillyn A. Hewson
Marillyn A. Hewson is former Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lockheed Martin Corporation. She was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2013 and was named Chairman of the Board in January 2014, serving in these positions until June 2020. She served as Executive Chairman of the Board until March 1, 2021.
Ms. Hewson joined Lockheed Martin in 1983 as an industrial engineer. During her career she held leadership positions across the corporation, including president and chief operating officer and executive vice president of Lockheed Martin’s Electronic Systems business area; president of Lockheed Martin Systems Integration; executive vice president of Global Sustainment for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.
Ms. Hewson currently serves on the board of directors of Johnson & Johnson, Chevron and Nexii Building Solutions Inc. She is a member of The University of Alabama’s President’s Cabinet and the Board of Visitors of the Culverhouse College of Business. In addition, she is a fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a member of the Trilateral Commission, Council on Foreign Relations and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Ms. Hewson has also served on several U.S. government advisory bodies, public company boards, and charitable organization boards.
In 2019, TIME magazine identified Ms. Hewson as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World,” and FORTUNE magazine ranked her No. 1 on its list of “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” for the second year in a row. In 2018, she was named the “CEO of the Year” by Chief Executive magazine, a Top 10 “Businessperson of the Year” by FORTUNE magazine, and one of the “World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” by Forbes
