Library Support for Data Management and Sharing Plans (DMSPs) - Thursday, Jan 19 from 12-12:45pm @ Gorgas 1005

https://ua.libcal.com/event/10165086

Starting January 25, 2023, the NIH will join most federal grants and require the submission of a Data Management and Sharing Plan (DMSP). As the United States moves closer to achieving the goal of public data access, researchers will be required to submit a document (a DMSP) with their research proposal explaining how they will organize, preserve, share, and publish their work during and after grant funding.

Here at the library, we offer a variety of resources, tools, and support for learning about data management, the Open Access movement, and DMS Planning.

In this workshop, we will cover:

  • Overview of open data polices and federal grant funding (including the NIH changes)
  • Introduction to the research data lifecycle
  • Outline of a Data Management Plan
  • Demonstration of DMPTool.org
  • Information on Green Open Access Publishing in the Institutional Repository
  • Other resources for library support during your research

The workshop will be followed by an open lab session/Q&A where you can work on your DMSP and ask our librarians questions.
