Add to calendarAccording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 7 in 10 adults aged 40–79 used at least 1 prescription drug in the past 30 days in the United States (69.0%) and Canada (65.5%), and around 1 in 5 used at least 5 prescription drugs (22.4% in the United States and 18.8% in Canada). In addition, an estimated 129 million people in the US have at least 1 major chronic disease (e.g., heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, hypertension) as defined by the US Department of Health and Human Services. Research supports that many of these conditions can be prevented using evidence-based Lifestyle Medicine modalities.
