This stone tool maker event at will host flint knappers from all over the country. Flint knapping is one of man’s oldest crafts. Knapping is the shaping of stone through the process to make stone tools, such as but not limited to arrow heads. People have chipped rocks into tools and weapons for thousands of years. Native Americans knapped stone arrow and spear points, knife blades, scrapers, drills and many other tools and weapons.
Knap-In 2022 will host new components and as well features some of the park’s favorites (including demonstrations and crafts), showcasing Native American Culture in a variety of ways.
On Saturday, March 5, the Office of Archaeological Research will be in front of the museum from 10am -2pm, to help the public identify their artifacts. “This would be a great way from everyone to bring their artifacts and have them examined by a professional, “explained Lindsey Gordon, Interim Director of Moundville Archaeological Park.
