Setup Instructions: We will be using the Bash Shell within Ubuntu Linux. To actively participate in this workshop, users should bring their own computer with Ubuntu Linux installed. Ubuntu Linux can be installed within a virtual machine, like VirtualBox. If you would like help setting up your workstation, please contact us by October 1. Users can also follow along with alternative shells such as Zsh (Mac OS) and Windows Unix emulators like Cygwin or Gitbash: however, commands may vary slightly compared to Bash. Bringing your own computer is certainly not required for attendance, and we expect attendees will have a valuable experience with viewing only.
