This one-hour workshop with writer Diamond Forde will look at the historical linkage between racism and fatphobia to affirm why reaching into a poetics of excess is a plus (size) for all of us. Participants will read and discuss at least one poem that explores excess in poetry, and the session will end with a writing prompt to encourage students to start thinking about the supposedly excessive parts of themselves.
