Filmmakers of Far East Deep South, Larissa Lam and Baldwin Chiu, will be visiting The University of Alabama on April 4. Far East Deep South presents a rarely told history of Chinese Americans in the South during the late 1800s to mid-1900s. The documentary follows Producer Baldwin Chiu and his family’s search for their roots that takes them on an eye-opening journey through the Mississippi Delta. This deeply moving and unforgettable story offers a poignant and important perspective on immigration, American identity, and Asian Americans in the South. Far East Deep South will screen at ten Hoor 30 at 4:00 pm on April 4, followed by a discussion with Larissa Lam (Director) and Baldwin Chiu (Producer). The event is open to the public. Light refreshment and boba tea will be provided.
