Conversations with Dr. Bryan Jones

Dr. Bryan Jones is Professor and J.J. "Jake" Pickle Regents Chair of Congressional Studies at the University of Texas, Austin, as well as an Alabama native and 1966 graduate of The University of Alabama. Jones will be in town to discuss his latest book, The Southern Fault Line: How Race, Class, and Region Shaped One Family's History (OUP, 2025), which uses his family's deep history in the state to explore interracial coalition efforts in the Jim Crow South.

Dr. Jones will be participating in three different events on October 8.

• 10:30-11:30 AM - Faculty Coffee Hour, 346 ten Hoor Hall. All faculty are invited to join Dr. Jones for an informal coffee talk. This portion is sponsored the Department of Political Science.
   
• Noon-01:30 PM - Graduate Luncheon, 251 ten Hoor Hall. All graduate students are invited to join Dr. Jones for an informal lunch and Q&A session.
   
• 04:30-05:30 PM - Public Talk, 251 ten Hoor Hall. Hear more from Dr. Jones about his latest book and his life growing up in Alabama. This event is open to the public.
