The Paul R. Jones Museum is pleased to present the exhibition Collector / Collected: Portraits of Paul R. Jones from May 27 through August 15, 2025. The opening reception will be held on June 6, 5-8 pm during Tuscaloosa’s First Friday Art Walk.

To many of the artists who knew Paul R. Jones personally, he was more than just a collector, he was also a muse. During his time in Atlanta, Paul built close friendships with P. H. Polk, Sheila Pree Bright, Amos ‘Ashanti’ Johnson, Al Blackman, and many more of the artists represented in his collection. This exhibition highlights these relationships by turning the lens on Paul, allowing us to see the collector through the eyes of his friends, peers, and clients. Each piece presents a relationship, a different version of Paul and what he meant to each individual artist. By assembling these glimpses of various “Pauls,” we build a greater understanding of the man behind the collection.
