https://ccs2.ua.edu/coffeetalk-april10How much of yourself belongs in the classroom? In this roundtable led by Isabelle Drewelow, we’ll explore the role of personal presence in teaching and discuss how anecdotes, stories and humor can humanize you as an instructor and strengthen student engagement. We’ll discuss the benefits and pitfalls of self-disclosure, examine how to share personal material in ways that support learning goals and consider how authenticity can coexist with healthy professional boundaries. Participants will leave with practical strategies for cultivating a positive, supportive classroom environment while remaining true to their own teaching personas.
