Much of graduate education takes place through mentoring relationships with faculty. Advanced graduate students also serve as mentors. Though mentoring relationships are often meaningful and impactful for mentors and mentees, they can also be fraught with challenges and painful impasses. This coffee talk, led by Dr. Brenda Smith, is open to all graduate students and faculty members. It will cover strategies to promote productive mentoring relationships and include ample time to discuss the challenges that can occur in mentoring.
