The Black Warrior Film Festival is an annual event at The University of Alabama produced for students, by students. Established in 2013, our competitive showcase of student films highlights emerging talent from universities across the nation through community-wide screenings, events, workshops and featured guests. The festival seeks to celebrate the work of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as provide an opportunity to enrich The University of Alabama and Tuscaloosa communities through the art of filmmaking. All festival events are free and open to the public.

This year's Black Warrior Film Festival will continue as a hybrid event, with panels held via zoom and film blocks showcasing films held in person. The 8th of April will be a full virtual day, with panels taking place throughout the day. On Saturday, April 9th, there will be zoom panels in the morning and film blocks in the afternoon. The festival weekend will conclude on Sunday, April 10th, with the remaining film blocks and a virtual award ceremony taking place that night.
