The Conservation Biology society will have a BioBlitz documenting the local biodiversity at the UA Arboretum and Harry Pritchett Running Park. This is a two-day event from 6 am to 10 pm each day. This is not the first BioBlitz that has been done here, so this will be a way for biodiversity to be documented over time and over multiple seasons. People specializing in birds, insects, plants, and aquatic invertebrates will be surveying the properties over the course of the day. Photographs of morphospecies will be taken and put on iNaturalist with coordinates of each sighting. After the event, these sightings will be evaluated to be able to compare with past BioBlitz surveys. These observations and the lists of species will be added to the record of diversity within the managed grounds. The primary meeting location will be at the pavilion (https://goo.gl/maps/r8XFRQf1qjKyY7e29), down the gravel road from the running park parking lot. Reach out to Kevin Shaw (kmshaw6@crimson.ua.edu) for additional details.
