The Department of English's Visiting Writers Series is excited to welcome memorist and novelist Unoma Azuah to campus. On Monday, March 9, Nigerian-born author Unoma Azuah will read a selection of her work and answer audience questions in the Yellowhammer Room of Gorgas Library at 7 p.m. Arrive early (6:30 pm) for refreshments and mingling. Books will be available for purchase, and Unoma Azuah will sign copies of her memoir immediately following the event.
Unoma Azuah teaches English at Wiregrass Georgia Tech. in Valdosta, Georgia, USA. She is a writer, scholar, and activist. Her recently released memoir, Embracing My Shadow, is described as “powerful” by the prestigious Ms. Magazine and her writing awards include the Hellman/Hammett Award; the Urban Spectrum Award for her debut novel, Sky-high Flames; and the Snyder-Aidoo Book Award for her novel, Edible Bones.
