UA English's Creative Writing Progam is excited to host Nigerian-born Igbo author Chika Unigwe, who will read a selection of her work and answer audience questions. Books will be availabe for purchase and signing immediately following the reading. Please join us on Wednesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. for a wonderful evening, and arrive early (6:30) for refreshments and mingling! 

 

This event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by The Department of Gender and Race Studies, The Graduate School, The Department of Modern Languages, and Capstone International.

 

CHIKA UNIGWE is a Nigerian writer who now lives in the United States. She is the author of several novels, as well as numerous short stories and essays. Her books include The Phoenix, On Black Sisters’ Street, Night Dancer, The Middle Daughter, and The Black Messiah. In 2014, she was selected for the Hay Festival's Africa39 list of 39 Sub-Saharan African writers aged under 40 with potential and talent to define future trends in African literature.
