Alma Gates Scroggins, a native of Greensboro, Alabama, graduated from the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business in accounting. She spent 30 years with Turner Broadcasting System, Inc in Atlanta before retiring in 2000.

She was with CNN from its infancy, serving as the CNN News group’s executive Vice President and chief financial officer.
