The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art presents the 2024 UA Department of Art and Art History Faculty Biennial Exhibition, January 11 through February 12, 2024. The public is invited to a reception for the faculty on Thursday, January 18, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The gallery and the department invite students, the University and West Alabama communities to explore the depth and variety of works created by the department’s studio faculty in ceramics, drawing, digital media, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. New to the exhibition this year is faculty member Melissa Yes, who joins Jonathan Cumberland, William Dooley, Allison Grant, Jamey Grimes, Jason Guynes, Holland Hopson, Wade MacDonald, Sarah Marshall, Celestia Morgan, Pete Schulte, and Bryce Speed in the exhibition.

Gallery director and associate professor William Dooley, who has curated Sarah Moody Gallery exhibitions for three decades, remarked on the sense of adventure inherent in the biannual show: “With our new faculty added to the mix and the use of innovative materials and approaches in art production, the works display a richness of artistic depth and make every show a unique chance to discover the artworks being created in Tuscaloosa.”

The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art, supported by the College of Arts and Sciences and the UA Department of Art and Art History, is an essential part of the education and development of UA students and our community. Admission to the gallery is free. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. when school is in session. The gallery is located at 103 Garland Hall in the heart of UA campus on Woods Quad.
